Copper pipe quality identification method

 

Copper pipes refer to copper materials that are pressed or drawn from copper. Due to its strong and wear-resistant properties, it is often used in electrical, industrial and construction industries. Copper pipes can be produced by extrusion, continuous casting and rolling, and up-drawing. Copper tube is an important raw material for the processing and manufacturing of refrigeration equipment. It has two main purposes:

Make heat exchangers.

Make connecting pipes and fittings.

 

1. Classification of copper pipes

(1). Air conditioning copper pipes can be roughly divided into ordinary air conditioning copper pipes and degreased air conditioning copper pipes:

 

Ordinary air conditioner: the thickness is generally 2 points, 3 points 0.5mm thick, 4 points 0.6mm thick, 5 points and 6 points 0.7mm thick. Mainly used for R22.

 

Degreasing air-conditioning copper pipe: also known as "oil-free air-conditioning copper pipe", there are 2 points, 3 points, 0.8mm thick, 4 points, 5 points, 6 points are 1.0mm thick. Mainly used for refrigerants such as R410.

Red copper tube: The copper tube used in our refrigeration industry is red copper, with a copper content of more than 99.90%. It has the good characteristics of copper metal, a high-quality basic metal. It is widely used in various industrial and civil fields and plays an important role. . There are mainly three types: TP2, T2, and TU1.

 

TP2 is phosphorus deoxidized copper, which contains 0.015-0.04% phosphorus content. It has good welding and cold bending properties. It is widely used in the manufacture of air-conditioning refrigeration connecting pipes, stove gas connecting pipes, and electric heating pipes.

 

T2 is pure copper, and the copper content is higher than 99.90%. When the user has higher requirements on the electrical conductivity of the material, the T2 copper tube will be the first choice.

 

TU1 is oxygen-free copper, copper content ≥99.97%, extremely low oxygen and impurity content, high purity, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, good ductility, good processing performance, welding, corrosion resistance, and cold resistance. Due to the high requirements and high cost of production, the price of its products is much higher than that of other types of copper pipes.

 

Brass pipe: copper-zinc alloy pipe, the number after the H letter in the grade often represents the middle value of its copper content, and the zinc content is the remaining amount. Brass pipes of different grades, with the increasing copper content, generally show better quality and elongation performance, and are mainly used as water pipes and water wading connectors.

 

(2) . The specific classification of air-conditioning copper pipe materials:

 

Oxygen-free copper: including high-purity oxygen-free copper (TU0, TU1, TU2) and phosphorus deoxidized copper (TUP, TP1, TP2, etc.), characterized by very little oxygen content, and a small amount of deoxidizer remaining in deoxidized copper;

 

Oxygen copper: mainly ordinary pure copper (T1, T2, T3, etc.) and tough copper, characterized by high oxygen content;

 

Special copper: there are arsenic copper, silver copper, tellurium copper, etc., which are characterized by adding different trace alloying elements to achieve the purpose of improving the overall performance of the material.

2. Judgment of the quality of copper pipes

 

(1) . Generally, you need to observe the appearance of the copper tube to judge the purchase. First, you need to look at the color of the copper tube. According to the type of copper tube you buy, you can make different color judgments, such as red copper tube. Generally, red copper with reddish color is good Copper, inferior copper has impurities in it.

 

(2).Generally, good copper pipes are made of pure copper, which will have better extensibility, so high-quality copper pipes will have a deep line. After the inside of the copper pipe is scratched, if it is the same as the outer wall, it means that the overall quality of the copper pipe fitting is relatively high. But if the color or other aspects are different, it is very likely that some substances similar to iron have been added to it. However, better copper pipes are used in the military industry and its special industries.
