Troubleshoot the thermostat in the refrigerator

The Thermostat is mainly used for refrigerators, freezers, central air conditioning, automotive air conditioner, heater, west kitchen equipment and other electrical products with temperature controller and overtemperature protection device.


If the refrigerator never cycles on or a refrigerator that runs continuously, freezing everything in the refrigerator and freezer compartments, the chances are good that you have a bad thermostatic temperature control.  Of all the possible causes, the thermostar is one of the easiest to test.


The main faults of the thermostat are as follows: the temperature sensing element leaks, causing its contact mechanism to be unable to close, so that the compressor can not start running; the carbon deposit between the contacts is severe, causing a large resistance between the contacts, causing the compressor not to start normally. Operation; adhesion between the contacts, resulting in a very low temperature inside the box, but the compressor still can not stop.


1.You may face this problem because the thermostat is not set correctly. When using the refrigerator, the thermostat dial can accidentally get knocked off, which can affect the cooling ability of the home appliance. the thermostat dial of the appliance must be set at 37-degrees Fahrenheit. This is the optimum temperature required to keep the food fresh.


2.Remove the suspected faulty thermostat from the box, rotate the thermostat adjustment lever to the normal position, and use the multimeter R×l to measure the resistance between the two main contacts of the thermostat. The normal resistance should be Zero or 1-2 Ω. If the resistance is infinite, it means that the temperature sensitive agent in the temperature sensing element has leaked out; if the resistance is above 10Ω, it is said that there is serious carbon deposition between the contacts.

  

3.In the case that the resistance of the thermostat is normal, the thermostat can be placed in the freezer of a small refrigerator such as a refrigerator or a freezer that is in normal operation for about 10 minutes, and then the thermostat is quickly measured by a multimeter R×l. The resistance between the main contacts should be infinite under normal conditions. If the resistance is zero, it means that the contacts are stuck.


While confirming that the thermostat contacts are not stuck, hold the temperature sensor of the thermostat with your hand, and then measure the resistance between the two main contacts.

It should be noted that when the temperature sensing tube is held by hand, the two contacts will be turned on quickly, that is, the indication value of the multimeter is changed from the infinite value of the resistance value to zero, which indicates that the various mechanisms of the thermostat are sensitive and normal.
